Nice spot to swim. The locals I ran into were a little odd. Lots of college aged kids, not really quiet or peaceful. But it is very beautiful. I give it a 2/10 for fishing.
Apr 28, 2026 · Google ReviewEdmondson is a small, daytime only picnic type area. The shade trees are lovely, a few cement tables and two round metal restrooms. I did not go in but I don't think they flush. The biggest draw for Edmondson's is that it's a public access to the Illinois River. It is unbelievably busy on hot weekends with multiple canoe/float operations setting off at the New Hope bridge. Cars are not allowed on the gravel and, if you have very much to unload, it could turn into a job. I like Edmondson's, besides the toilets I didn't see, but mid week would be better.

Aug 15, 2026 · Google ReviewNice swimming area with lots of gravel/Rocky land for friends and families to reside on. Not too deep but current picks up really fast. Lots of rafters and kayaker come through this area so have to watch out. Good place for the kids if they don't go further than 8ft past shoreline. Very nice scenery.
Jul 12, 2021 · Google ReviewWhen I go it's just me and my dog and we are very satisfied with the time we spend there. · Sometimes there's a gravel bar unless the water is too high and then it's underwater · There are typically life vests available for free to use hanging on a sign · Multiple trash cans are available for your convenience · There are signs stating not to bring glass or styrofoam
